Extended Research Residencies

Designed for individual artists and collectives alike, the program supports the research and development of new or ongoing projects through access to resources, personalized mentoring, peer-to-peer feedback, and active engagement with the local artistic scene, the Onassis AiR community, and the wider Onassis Culture ecosystem.

It offers time and space for experimentation alongside capacity-building activities and opportunities to share works in progress and explore possibilities for production and dissemination.

Throughout the residency period, the art practitioners who participate in the program are invited to engage with the vibrant locale of Athens, as well as with Fellows from other programs and networks, embracing moments of knowledge sharing and exchange.

What’s new in 2026–27

In 2026–27, the program continues its focus on applied arts and, for the first time, dedicates four residencies to research in the field of fashion. Building on last year’s invitation for projects that explore scale, materials, and collaborative processes, the fashion designers can benefit from the Onassis Ready facilities and the newly formed fashion studios in its premises as well as from the partnership with Central Saint Martins and the MA Fashion Course Leader Fabio Piras.

Also, for the first time, one residency will be realized in collaboration with the Cavafy Archive, giving direct access to the manuscripts, notes, and personal library of C. P. Cavafy and enabling an interdisciplinary approach to archival study and literary heritage.
