Fellowships

In addition to the annual Onassis AiR Open Call, artists and practitioners may join Onassis AiR through collaborations and reciprocal residency exchanges with partner institutions; participation in cultural mobility schemes through European and international networks; and within existing Onassis Culture partnerships and synergies.

The Onassis AiR Fellowships bring together visual artists, curators, writers, makers, thinkers, dance and theater artists from Greece and around the world who, along with Fellows from other strands of the program, create a growing network of creative practitioners that connects local and global conversations.

The residencies in this strand do not have a fixed duration and are tailored to the practitioners and/or the context in which their research develops. Their duration may range from a short, concentrated period of work to a longer engagement, and the research location can extend beyond the Onassis AiR facilities depending on the project’s needs. Fellows may work in rehearsal spaces, undertake fieldwork or archival research in Greece or abroad, or receive support for their participation in international festivals and residency programs.

For writers and playwrights, the residency offers dedicated time and access to appropriate writing spaces, with the Onassis Library serving as an ideal environment for contemporary creative work. Theater and dance curators also join the program by invitation, in connection with Onassis Culture’s existing collaborations; during their residency, they conduct research for their programming, explore opportunities for further collaborations, and contribute to the program as mentors to participating artists.
