Mario Banushi | Residency at NTCH

During my stay in Taipei, I would like to explore the relationship between Asian culture and the cultural heritage of the Balkans. I am interested in identifying elements that connect the two regions, not only on a thematic level but also through sensory dimensions such as color, sound, forms of storytelling, and traditional practices. My goal is to conduct a study on this connection, examining how tradition is expressed and transformed across different cultural contexts.

I am also interested in observing how local rituals, crafts, and theatrical language reflect values and experiences, and how these elements can enrich my artistic practice. Through this research, I aim to highlight common patterns and differences, gain a deeper understanding of the concept of tradition, and draw inspiration for future works that connect the Balkan and Asian cultural contexts.
