Yiannis Papadopoulos

Pianist and composer Yiannis Papadopoulos was born in Athens in 1987. He graduated from the Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University, where he specialized in jazz performance. As a scholarship recipient, he attended seminars led by prominent artists in the international jazz scene. In 2009, he represented the Ionian University at the 19th International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) Meeting in Lucerne. He has performed extensively in Greece with renowned artists from the local jazz scene, including Takis Paterelis, Dimos Dimitriadis, Yiorgos Fakanas, Vassilis Rakopoulos, and Alexandros Ktistakis, as well as international jazz musicians such as Franco Ambrosetti, J. D. Walter, Manfred Schoof, New York Gypsy All-Stars, Jean-Loup Lognon, and Tivon Pennicott. His debut album, “Mirrorself,” was released by Puzzlemusik in 2021. He is a founding member of the Next Step Quintet, with whom he has recorded three albums, and also performs with numerous ensembles on the local music scene. His appearances include the Athens Epidaurus Festival, the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron), the European Jazz Festival at Technopolis City of Athens, and the Greek Jazz Panorama at Onassis Stegi. He has also performed in numerous theater productions.
