The Onassis Stegi Upper Stage turns off the lights and lets the vampires in. From the castles of Transylvania and the silent apartments of New York to the arcades of Athens and the streets of Seoul, a cinematic pursuit begins, tracing one of pop culture’s most seductive, enduring, and darkest myths.

“I crossed oceans of time to find you.”

Vampires have haunted the history of cinema for more than a century. From F. W. Murnau’s first great cinematic vampire, "Nosferatu" (1922), they have changed names, cities, and identities, but the heart of the myth remains the same: humanity’s deep desire for connection, love, and eternal life.

In the Film Tribute “The Vampires,” we encounter the classic bloodsuckers of Carl Theodor Dreyer’s "Vampyr", Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula, and Guillermo del Toro’s "Cronos"; discover vampire love through Jim Jarmusch’s "Only Lovers Left Alive", Park Chan-wook’s "Thirst", and Tomas Alfredson’s "Let the Right One In"; and meet female reworkings of the myth in Olivier Assayas’ "Irma Vep" and Ana Lily Amirpour’s "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night".

The dark myth of the solitary, foreign, and marginalized vampire, a figure who defies nature, destabilizes society, and plunges life into endless darkness, comes to the Onassis Stegi for three nights filled with cinema.
