Dimitris Klonis

Drummer and composer Dimitris Klonis was born in Athens in 1984. At the age of 14, he began studying drums with Petros Daktilidis, then with John Floros. In 2010, after graduating from the National Technical University of Athens, he was admitted to both the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Rotterdam Jazz Academy (Codarts). He studied briefly at the former, taking classes with Lucas van Merwijk, Marcel Serierse, and Victor Oskam. He holds degrees in harmony (2009) and counterpoint (2012), having studied under Orestis Hatzinakis. He has collaborated with leading figures from the Greek jazz scene, including Takis Paterelis, George Kontrafouris, Yiotis Samaras, Dimitris Tsakas, Pantelis Benetatos, Vangelis Karipis, and Yiannis Kassetas, as well as with international artists such as Leo Genovese, Femi Temowo (Roots, Amy Winehouse), and Michael Weisberger (Milo Z). He has also collaborated with Foivos Delivorias, Martha Frintzila, Babis Stokas, and Pavlos Pavlidis, and contributed to many recordings and major album releases. He has performed in numerous theater productions presented at distinguished festivals, cultural institutions, and theaters in Greece and abroad.
