Karolina Kothroula

Karolina Kothroula, Pilot Officer (Second Lieutenant), is an officer of the Hellenic Air Force and serves at the War Museum of Athens, where she has been appointed Head of Military Tourism (Remembrance Tourism), as well as Public Relations and Events Officer.

As part of her duties, she participates in the design and gradual development of a strategic framework for advancing military tourism in Greece, in collaboration with the Ministries of National Defense, Culture, and Tourism, as well as local government bodies, universities, and cultural institutions. This initiative aims to preserve and promote collective national memory as a defining element of contemporary Hellenism, to strengthen the international visibility of the country’s military history, and to shape a framework of national and international partnerships through military-historical diplomacy, thereby enhancing Greece’s soft power.

In her current role, she is also responsible for representing the War Museum in developing partnerships with related museums and cultural institutions abroad, with the aim of gradually strengthening international networking and the exchange of know-how in the field of military and cultural heritage. At the same time, she contributes to organizing conferences, exhibitions, and institutional events, as well as to managing the Museum’s public image and outreach.

Previously, she served as Assistant to the Defense Attaché at the Greek Embassy in Paris, where she contributed substantially to the development and strengthening of bilateral contacts and cooperation between Greece and France in the field of defense, while also participating in the organization of diplomatic and military meetings, the hosting of official delegations, and representing Greece at international events. Her professional career also includes many years of experience in staff and administrative positions within the Hellenic Air Force.

She is a graduate of the Department of Business Administration at the University of Patras and holds a master’s degree in Tourism Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the University of West Attica. She was a scholarship recipient of the Onassis Foundation both during her postgraduate studies and while attending the Hellenic Air Force Non-Commissioned Officers School for Administrative Personnel. Her participation on the Board of Directors of the Onassis Foundation Scholars’ Association reflects her enduring connection to the Foundation and her commitment to collective contribution.
