Onassis AiR Open Call 2026/27
Onassis AiR is open to everyone from anywhere in the world, with or without disabilities. It is intended for those seeking a creative, inclusive, and collaborative environment alongside other practitioners from diverse disciplines and practices.
Below you will find key facts and responses to the most frequently asked questions we have received over the years regarding the Onassis AiR Open Call.
PROGRAM-RELATED
- There are no age restrictions.
- There is no requirement for formal academic degrees.
- All Onassis AiR Residencies for the 2026/27 season have a duration of 10 weeks.
- For the 2026/27 season, Onassis AiR offers eighteen (18) Extended Research Residencies, including one (1) Cavafy Archive Residency; five (5) Theater & Dance Residencies; three (3) AiR/ONX Residencies; and four (4) Technical Residencies.
- As the program accommodates both local and international participants, the working language is English.
- Although Onassis AiR does not yet have the infrastructure to offer childcare, support mechanisms for selected applicants with children will be explored on a case-by-case basis during the interview process.
- Onassis AiR does not provide individual studios. All spaces are meant to be shared and used collectively by the Fellows. However, dedicated studio space may be arranged, subject to availability, if required for the project.
- Onassis AiR is a growing community of peers, with previous participants retaining access to all spaces and resources. As a future participant of the program, you will enjoy similar access after completing your residency.

APPLICATION FORMS-RELATED
- You may apply with only one application and submit only one project proposal.
- Collectives are eligible to apply. However, due to limited capacity, a maximum of two representatives from a collective can participate in the residency. Each representative receives the full individual fee. Both representatives’ names must be included in the online application form.
- Applicants to the Onassis AiR Theater & Dance Residencies may complete the application form and questions in either Greek or English.
- Applicants to the Extended Research, Cavafy Archive, AiR/ONX, and Technical Residencies are required to complete all form fields and questions in English.
- Work sample:
Applicants are asked to upload one (1) PDF file containing a work sample relevant to the project proposal, or a draft excerpt of the proposed project. The PDF must be one (1) page only and include either one (1) image or one (1) link to an audio or video file (maximum duration: 3 minutes). - Production plan (AiR/ONX Residencies only):
Applicants to the Onassis AiR/ONX Residencies are required to upload a PDF production plan including (a) a tech rider (specifying technical, logistical, and spatial requirements), (b) a provisional budget, and (c) a proposed production roadmap outlining what is intended to be developed within the constraints and timeframe of the residency. - The maximum file size for all attached documents is 50MB.
- If password-protected links are included in the application attachments, please make sure to provide the corresponding passwords.
- Your details are stored securely for the purposes of the selection process. All applications and associated documents are deleted twelve (12) months after the announcement of results.

Due to the small size of our team, we are only able to respond to inquiries about the Open Call until this date. Onassis AiR office hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00 (UTC+2).
- All applicants will be informed by email of the outcome of their application, regardless of the result, on Monday, June 15, 2026. If you have not received a response by then, please feel free to contact us.
