As a child, Kyriakos was diagnosed with kidney failure. Throughout his teenage years, he depended on a dialysis machine, to which he was connected for many hours every day. He was forbidden from eating almost everything. After extreme deprivation and a successful transplant, he finally enjoyed his favorite ice cream for a second first time in his life.
