The Onassis Children Unit has 33 inpatient beds and 12 ICU beds, five of which are exclusively for infants, and performs the full spectrum of cardiac surgery and congenital heart disease operations for neonates, infants, and children.
To date, the Department has treated more than 15,500 children, covering the majority of pediatric cardiological and cardiac surgery cases in Greece. Its outstanding outcomes are recorded on the Pediatric European Cardiac Surgical Registry.
With funding from the Onassis Foundation, the Onassis Hospital collaborates with the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, one of Europe’s leading pediatric hospitals and home to a globally renowned pediatric cardiac surgery and cardiology unit. As part of this collaboration, external evaluations are carried out to ensure the continuous improvement of the medical care provided by the Onassis Hospital to child patients.
