Dimitra was born with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that led to end-stage respiratory failure in adulthood. For years, she was banned entirely from cycling and any form of exercise she loved as a child. At 23, after a successful lung transplant, Dimitra got back on her beloved bike for a second first time.
