Culture at the Onassis Stegi is a domain of equality, dialogue, and active presence, and accessibility is not a special provision. It is the way we understand culture, as an open and polyphonic field where every body and every voice has the right to presence and creation.
As part of its ongoing commitment to equal access to culture, the Onassis Stegi is collaborating with Alpha Bank, the exhibition’s accessibility sponsor. Through this partnership, the exhibition becomes accessible to everyone on Sundays, March 15, April 5 & 26, and May 10, with tours in Greek Sign Language for deaf and hard of hearing people, and with live audio description for people with visual disabilities, in collaboration with the cultural organization liminal, while tactile images of selected works will also be available in collaboration with Tactile Studio.
“Taking photos has become an important thing in my life other than filmmaking; it is so much freer. It feels like there are fewer rules tied to conventional narrative.”
Yorgos Lanthimos is celebrated for his world-building and absurdist explorations of human relationships, establishing him as one of the most distinctive auteurs in contemporary cinema. Now, at the Onassis Stegi, we will experience a rare artistic event: the largest exhibition of Lanthimos’ photographs ever held at a cultural institution.
Greek Sign Language interpretation
A tour of the exhibition with simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language (GSL), so that deaf and hard-of-hearing people have full access to the information, the analysis, and the discussion around the works.
Live audio description
A tour that includes a detailed live verbal description of the photographs, covering visual details, compositions, and expressions, so that people with visual disabilities or low vision can have a complete picture of the works.
Tactile images
Specially designed, textured tactile renderings of selected works that allow exploration through touch, facilitating the understanding of the composition and the key elements of the photographs for people with visual disabilities.
These tours are made possible by our accessibility sponsor Alpha Bank and in collaboration with the cultural organization liminal, while the development of the tactile photographs was carried out in collaboration with Tactile Studio.
