A milestone year but also a very significant five-year period for transplantation in Greece culminate with the 8th Transplant Masterclass on December 15.

The Digital Transplant Masterclass returns online this year on Monday, December 15, with one main goal: to highlight the significant progress achieved in organ donation and transplantation in Greece in recent years. The webinar, organized by the Onassis Foundation under the scientific auspices of the Hellenic Transplant Organization (HTO) and Onassis Hospital, attempts to provide a comprehensive and evidence-based overview of the transplant landscape in our country and seeks to open the discussion on the next steps required to sustain the upward momentum of the past years.

The webinar will open and be moderated by Ioannis N. Boletis, President of the Onassis Hospital, who will outline the key points of the coordinated effort that led to a steady five-year recovery in transplantation. A presentation by the President of the HTO, George Papatheodoridis, will follow, with an overview of the period 2020–2025 and the actions that have propelled the country into a new transplant dynamic. Next, leading Greek scientists from across the transplant spectrum will present developments in each program: progress in heart transplantation, the evolution of the lung transplantation program, the new landscape in liver transplantation, as well as the current state of adult and pediatric kidney transplantation. Each presentation provides a comprehensive snapshot of today – an ecosystem that is maturing and evolving.

As knowledge grows, cooperation strengthens, and society becomes more informed, life will continue to gain ground and claim the space it deserves. Because every step forward in transplantation is not merely a medical achievement; it is a new beginning for a person, a family, an entire community.
