Markellos Polydorou

Markellos Polydorou is a fashion designer based in Athens. He graduated from the Agricultural University of Athens before pursuing a Master’s degree in Fashion Design at Politecnico di Milano.

His interest in nature, materials, and construction continues to inform his approach to design. After beginning his career in costume design for theater productions in Greece, he trained at Atelier Lascari in Milan and later joined the atelier of Iris van Herpen in the Netherlands, where he contributed to the development of the haute couture collection Earth Rise.

In 2019, Irish performer Róisín Murphy wore one of his designs during her European tour. In 2020, he received the ELLE Fashion Young Talents Graduate Award in Greece. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue Greece, Vogue Portugal, ELLE, and Marie Claire.

Today, he runs his own atelier in Athens, where he develops personal collections and bespoke projects. Alongside his studio practice, he is increasingly interested in garment construction as a space for experimentation, material research, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Markellos Polydorou is an Onassis AiR Fellow for 2026/27.
