Maria Mavropoulou

Maria Mavropoulou is a Greek AI artist and digital photographer exploring the intersections of photography, artificial intelligence, and emerging digital media. Her work examines the blurred boundaries between physical and virtual spaces, algorithmic bias, and the evolving nature of digital identity in an always-online world. Using AI-generated imagery, VR, and screen-captured compositions, Mavropoulou investigates the mysticism of machine intelligence and the future of photography in the age of synthetic images. Her projects have been exhibited internationally, including at FOAM Amsterdam, König Gallery (Berlin), the National Museum of Contemporary Art (Greece), and the MAST Foundation (Italy). Her VR work “Family Portraits” won recognition at the 60th Thessaloniki International Film Festival. In addition to her artistic practice, Mavropoulou contributes to “The New York Times,” covering technology-related topics through photography.
