Louiza Ntourou (Orlof, b. 1987, Greece) is an artist-filmmaker based in Athens. She studied Political Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and pursued postgraduate studies in Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London, and Experimental Film at Kingston University, London. Her work explores the unexpected facets of reality, reimagining the everyday through a lens that uncovers the hidden poetry in both animate and inanimate objects. For the last years, she has been developing a video series that is inspired by the haiku poetic form and translates its principles into the language of the moving image. Her practice involves a peripatetic approach and spontaneous encounters in public spaces, embracing chance as a creative tool to disrupt conscious control and let narratives emerge organically. Recently, her research has expanded into digital spaces, focusing on archival and found materials. By re-contextualizing footage tied to significant both political and personal moments, she creates works that transcend specific geographies, fostering universal connections to shared human experiences. Her videos have been screened at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London, 2020), Hayward Gallery (London, 2020/21), Art-Athina (Athens, 2021), and Beaconsfield Gallery (London, 2024). She is a recipient of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS (2022).
Louiza Ntourou is a participant of the Onassis AiR Extended Research Residencies program for 2025/26.
