(LA)HORDE

Founded in 2013, the collective (LA)HORDE is made up of three multidisciplinary artists: Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer, and Arthur Harel. Their dance practice unfolds across choreographic works, films, performances, and installations.

From the very beginning, (LA)HORDE has worked with communities on the margins of mainstream culture—the septuagenarians of “Void Island” (2014), the visually impaired participants of “Night Owl” (2016), the jumpers of “To Da Bone” (2017), and the Georgian dancers of Ballet Iveroni in “Marry Me In Bassiani” (2019)—exploring the political dimensions of dance and mapping choreographic forms of uprising, both collective and solitary.

Since 2019, they have directed the CCN Ballet national de Marseille, where they have created large-scale works such as “Room With A View” (2020) and “Age of Content” (2023). Alongside these productions, they curate mixed programs by inviting other choreographers (“Roommates,” with Lucinda Childs, Tânia Carvalho, Lasseindra Ninja, and Oona Doherty) and develop expanded performative formats, such as “We Should Have Never Walked on the Moon.”

Their practice is grounded in a transdisciplinary approach that brings together choreography, visual arts, and cinema. Their works have been presented at major institutions including MoMA, the Palais de Chaillot, and the Southbank Centre, and are widely shown internationally. In 2025, “Deep Stream,” created in collaboration with the Musée du Louvre, extended their exploration of performance within major institutions. At the same time, (LA)HORDE collaborates with leading figures in film and music, including Spike Jonze, Madonna, Rosalía, and Angèle.

The collective is currently presenting its third choreographic work with the Ballet national de Marseille, “Après moi, le déluge,” which premiered in summer 2026, and preparing a shared program scheduled for December 2026.
