Open Call: NEW CHOREOGRAPHERS FESTIVAL 7 – THE LAB
More than a festival. More than an open call.
Onassis Stegi invites early-career choreographers, dance companies and other creators of contemporary artistic practices around the concept of dance in a lab, aiming at the intersection, development and promotion of original methodologies.
For a seventh year, Onassis Stegi organizes the New Choreographers Festival. However, it is the first time that the festival is preceded by a series of meetings, workshops and masterclasses planned for the occasion.
The New Choreographers Festival – The lab introduces new creators and original works to the audience, acting at the same time as a nonstandard lab, an explosive exchange of ideas, a workshop of sharing ideas and practices, which will take place from November 2019 to January 2020, aiming at the intersection, development and promotion of original methodologies.
Stegi seeks to make every artist, researcher and viewer to shift, network, open up to what they do not know and at the same time to delineate, broaden, substantiate and share what they already know. In one word, to transform.
The New Choreographers Festival will serve as the ground for a series of such transformative and surprising meetings, where the young generation of choreographers and not least the audience will engage in an open dialogue with art, society and the present day. Curation will be done by an international committee of professionals on contemporary dance and performance such as Vallejo Gantner, Asgerdur Gunnarsdottir, Linda Kapetanea, Androniki Marathaki, Alexander Graham Roberts and Sanjoy Roy.
The New Choreographers Festival – The lab will be curated by an international committee of choreographers and professionals in the field of contemporary dance, somehow passing on the torch to the younger generation of choreographers and, at the same time, supporting its research, as well as its practice.
The 6 members of this international committee are Vallejo Gantner, Asgerdur Gunnarsdottir, Linda Kapetanea, Androniki Marathaki, Alexander Graham Roberts and Sanjoy Roy.
