NEAR MISSES | Fotini Stamatelopoulou

From the Onassis Stegi to European stages, four women choreographers are found in a trajectory of outwardness

On November 7 and 8, Elena Antoniou presents “LANDSCAPE” at Bologna’s Gender Bender Festival, attempting a new experiment in the overexposure and self-objectification of her body. At the same time in Geneva, within the framework of the Emergentia platform, Fotini Stamatelopoulou presents “Near Misses,” a performance about resistance, chaos, and persistence, which explores the body as a site of conflict.

Inspired by catwalks, Christiana Kosiari’s choreographic piece “RUNWAY” is presented at Thessaloniki’s “Amalia” Theater on November 24. From there, the speed race against the corrosion of time continues at Sofia’s Derida Dance Center on November 26.

The choreographic phenomenon that has conquered the world’s stages adds yet another stop to the artistic map of the Onassis Stegi Touring Program. On November 28, Ioanna Paraskevopoulou’s “MOS” is presented at Toulouse’s NeufNeuf Festival, with the award-winning choreographer once again employing sound as her main choreographic tool.

All four works started their journey from the Onassis Dance Days – ODD festival, the established contemporary dance festival of the Onassis Stegi, which consistently explores the boundaries of movement and attempts to offer a lateral answer to the question: “What is dance?”

Christos Papadopoulos takes his next “fierce ignorant steps”

With “My Fierce Ignorant Step” in his suitcases, Christos Papadopoulos continues his impressive itinerary through a series of performances in emblematic European stages: Rome’s RomaEuropa Festival from November 14 to 16, Reggio Emilia’s Fondazione I Teatri on November 19, Madrid’s Festival de Otoño on November 21 and 22, Bruges’ December Dance at the Concertgebouw Brugge on December 3, and Rotterdam’s Theater Rotterdam on December 6.

Οn each step of the way, the dance piece, first presented on the Main Stage of the Onassis Stegi in May 2025, explores how movement becomes a song: one in which the dancers’ bodies pulsate – and through them, potentially, the bodies of the audience. A plural body that marches with eyes wide open to what lies ahead, a galloping that constantly swells.

Manolis Saridakis' robots travel to Limassol

Through the strikingly sharp vision of the work “Do Robots Have Emotions?” Manolis Saridakis tackles the highly relevant topic of robotics, interweaving the critical issues of control and both artificial and emotional intelligence, with his own struggle for autonomy and freedom of expression. The work, created within the framework of the Europe Beyond Access program and in extension of the Onassis Stegi’s ongoing commitment to addressing issues of access in the arts – and dance in particular – will be presented on December 7 in Limassol, as part of Beyond DisDance Inclusive Festival.

The ancient myth of Oedipus echoes from Western Attica to Taiwan

Loukia Alavanou travels to Taiwan’s Taichung Art Museum from December 13 to April 12, 2026, with her work “Oedipus in Search of Colonus.” The VR installation that constituted Greece’s official national participation at the 59th Venice Art Biennale, also presented at the Exhibition Hall -1 of the Onassis Stegi in October 2023, unfolds a new take on the ancient myth, following in the footsteps of Oedipus through virtual landscapes and contemporary forms of exile.
