ONX Seeds

ONX Seeds is the annual program of Onassis ONX dedicated to supporting and developing early-stage digital or hybrid—analog and digital—projects. It addresses practices that operate at the intersection of art, design, and technology, ranging from installations and narrative experiences to applications, algorithmic products, interfaces, and objects that exist on the threshold between artwork and technological product.

The aim of the program is to support creators and collectives in the transition from the initial idea to a first, functional, and coherent Proof-of-Concept, through a structured development framework that combines artistic research, technological design, production, and, at least, distribution intent, with the aim of shaping works that are both curatorially crafted and technologically functional.

ONX Seeds is addressed to young and emerging creators, creative technologists, designers, artists, groups, and collectives working across art and technology, as well as to interdisciplinary practices that operate between design, sound, image, body, and space.

Participants in ONX Seeds receive seed funding for the development of their projects, along with curatorial, technological, and production support throughout the program. They gain access to ONX Studio in Athens, equipment, and tailored technical support. Additionally, they take part in masterclasses and knowledge-sharing sessions that focus both on artistic development and the sustainability and further development of their project.

The program culminates in the presentation of selected projects at the ONX Showcase in Athens to an international audience, aiming to bring new creators to the forefront of the global digital arts scene.

ONX Seeds serves as the main entry point into the Onassis ONX ecosystem, the Onassis Foundation’s global platform for art and emerging technologies, with hubs in Athens and New York. Through the program, creators have the opportunity to further develop their ideas, connect with an international network of artistic production and collaboration, and reach international festivals and markets.

Onassis ONX is the Onassis Foundation’s global platform dedicated to elevating innovative creators in the development, presentation, and distribution of new media artworks and immersive experiences. It provides artists and teams with capacity-building programs, incubation and applied research initiatives, acceleration services, seed funding, exhibition opportunities, fellowships, and partnership-driven collaborations through its hubs in Athens and New York City. This holistic engagement throughout the creative process enables artists to build worlds at the frontiers of AI, immersive, spatial computing, gaming, and other emergent time-based media. Onassis ONX provides a stage for creatives to imagine new futures by questioning the systems through which culture is produced, circulated, and remembered, actively fostering new forms of creative expression to meaningfully engage with audiences around the world.
