No Smartphones at the Family Table

What fits on a screen and what doesn’t? How can a product, through subtle digital interventions, challenge the screen’s boundaries and conventions? Can we design digital objects with analog qualities? Are we able to escape the tyranny of the algorithm?

ONX Seeds invites new media creators, creative technologists, and designers, with an emphasis on worldbuilding, innovation, and speculative design, to develop functional prototypes that redefine the boundaries between the digital, the algorithmic, and the analog.

Digital works seek the idleness of the analog through a four-month artistic development program dedicated to creating early-stage works (Proofs-of-Concept) and supporting creators working at the intersection of art and technology.

The Analog Digital

We dream and design a digital realm that coexists, gives and receives, touches and is touched, creaks and breathes. It is imperfect, and that is what makes it perfect. Through ONX Seeds, we seek works that treat technology as part of a tangible everyday life, composed of subcultures and micro-communities, families of contradictions and love, hybrid materialities, and small technological gestures that shape new modes of coexistence.

Analog-digital installations, original design projects, digital applications, and objects that operate between space, service, and software, objects that exist on the threshold between artwork and technological product. By building universes and worlds, creators transcend the materiality of objects to craft comprehensive experiences around and beyond them.

The ONX Seeds program will support the development of up to four prototypes, providing seed funding, as well as production, artistic, curatorial, and technical guidance, and access to the new ONX Studio at Onassis Ready in Athens. The goal of ONX Seeds is to guide selected projects from their initial vision to an artistically complete and technologically functional Proof-of-Concept. Priority is given to projects that engage small-scale, low-energy-footprint technologies; everyday devices; environments beyond the screen; unconventional and shared spaces (from a toilet to a kitchen or a corridor); and hybrid forms situated between object and software. The resulting prototypes will be presented at the ONX Showcase in Athens in May 2026.
