Vitoria Kotsalou & Stephanos Lentzis | One Fly Over

“One Fly Over” is an eight-week choreographic research project by Vitoria Kotsalou and Stephanos Lentzis that explores how sustained proximity between bodies generates new forms of movement, perception, and relation. A plunge towards the birth of an elevated mind, the project begins with the encounter of two dancers who, through their shared practice, form a passage out of the slumber of habit—creating a realm absent of meaning that moves beyond the barriers of what we call understanding.

The research asks: given our right, our space, and our wit to imagine—and the freedom to acknowledge that we are incomplete—what kind of dynamism do we navigate towards in order to remain in relation? What values, flexibilities, and forms of intelligence do we cultivate to stay within this ongoing negotiation, and what kind of nature do we grow through encounter?

“One Fly Over” proposes choreography as a technology of negotiation and transformation, as an emergent process of learning through difference, where composition arises through the frequency of encounters between bodies and disciplines.

At the center of the research lies daily ballet training—a deliberate encounter with an unfamiliar movement logic. For two self-trained dancers, ballet becomes not an aesthetic destination but a practice of displacement: a shared terrain where discipline meets difference. Through this immersion, the research observes what persists, what transforms, and what new embodied intelligences emerge when one submits to a form that is not one’s own.

Structured through phases of Embedding, Abduction, and World-Making, the process develops a compositional methodology rooted in embodied intelligence, neurodiversity, and transduction through exchange.

“One Fly Over” asks how we change through encounter. By attending to the rhythms that connect bodies, thought, sensation, and imagination, the project proposes choreography as a porous practice of becoming—open, incomplete, and continuously transforming.
