Introduction

Presented in 27 editions across different cities around the globe, this disruptive new music festival is returning to Onassis Stegi for a third year.

The Tectonics Festival started out in Reykjavik, Iceland in 2012. Since then, it has been presented in 27 editions across a series of different cities. Its main curator has been the acclaimed conductor Ilan Volkov, who launched the event with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Its main focus is on new music, from classical orchestral music to solo improvised performances, electronic music, newly-invented instruments, installations, and much more. Besides fostering a broad international network of artists and digging deeper into their work, the festival also concentrates on local scenes, providing new and unexpected opportunities for artists and audiences to meet and form new relationships.

Many new collaborations began as part of Tectonics, and various new orchestral works have had their premieres at the festival.

This year’s edition of Tectonics is curated by Ilan Volkov, Anne Hilde Neset and Michalis Moschoutis.
