Introduction
A different kind of ping-pong match is kicking off in classrooms. 3D printers and laser cutting machines give rise to the creative process of fabricating unique paddles for each schoolchild. Making sure this contest is evenly matched? That’s in yours hands.
Take the opportunity to turn your classroom into a cutting-edge Fab Lab where each and every student will come in contact with the workings of 3D printing and laser cutting, and everyone can learn how to design and create ping-pong paddles. Paddles that are, however, non-typical since they set the scene for an evenly matched ping-pong contest that takes a stand against exclusion and discrimination.
Sign up for a workshop that combines the use of modern technologies with the design and fabrication of a final product, while also creating the conditions for a series of meaningful thought, discursive and decision-making processes aimed at accepting diversity, forging equity, and eradicating discrimination.
In a rapidly developing world, teens in their classrooms will set down their pencils and textbooks for a moment and, through the use of technology, bring their ideas to life, creating the necessary conditions for a world that is more just and democratic. This is hope itself – nothing less.
