The Last Drive at Gagarin 205, March 2025
Rooted firmly in ’77 punk, The Last Drive emerged in early-1980s Athens, quickly gathering a small but devoted following with their explosive blend of garage rock, punk, surf, and rockabilly.
This marked the beginning of a journey that would span more than four decades. Their sound was captured on albums such as “Underworld Shakedown” (1986), “Heatwave” (1988), “Blood Nirvana” (1990), “Fuckhead Entropy” (1992), and “Subliminal” (1995); they toured extensively across Greece and Europe, worked with rock ’n’ roll legends and won over an international audience. Their records were released worldwide, and today they are regarded as an authentic, defining voice of garage rock ’n’ roll.
In 1995, The Last Drive disbanded, and the members went their separate ways. In the spring of 2007, twelve years after their breakup, they reunited on the stage of Gagarin 205 club for a new series of concerts in Greece and abroad. Their decision to come back together led to a new ‘ride’ that lasted until 2025, with numerous performances, two outstanding albums (“Heavy Liquid” and “The Last Drive”), and a sustained creative presence. With renewed energy and integrity, and a fertile relationship with their community—the Drive Tribe—the band remained a point of reference for the Greek underground, influencing younger generations of musicians and keeping the spirit of independent rock ’n’ roll alive in every performance.
