Peter Zumthor

Peter Zumthor (b. 1943, Basel) works with his team of around two dozen people in his atelier in the alpine setting of Haldenstein, Switzerland, producing architectural originals such as the Kunsthaus Bregenz, the Therme Vals, the Museum Kolumba in Cologne, the Steilneset Memorial in Vardo, or the David Geffen Galleries, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA. He has received numerous awards, including the Praemium Imperiale from the Japan Art Association in Tokyo in 2008, the Pritzker Architecture Prize from the Hyatt Foundation in 2009, and the RIBA Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2013.
