Martina Yordanova

Martina Yordanova is currently curator at the National Gallery, Sofia (since 2020), curator of the Bulgarian Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, founder and artistic director of IATRUS Residency Program in the city of Veliko Tarnovo (since 2023), and founding member of Eastern Balkans Institute for Art and Architecture in Bulgaria (2024). Raised between Bulgaria and Austria, she received her BA and MFA in Publicity, Communication Sciences, and Film, Theatre and Media History from the University of Vienna. Yordanova’s curatorial practice is consistently cross-disciplinary, operating between contemporary art, architecture, research, education, and community building.

At the National Gallery of Bulgaria, she works on promoting the museum’s collection, developing partnerships with cultural institutions, and producing and disseminating knowledge around Bulgarian and international contemporary art. As part of the contemporary art department, she collaborates with in-house and guest curators on exhibition and educational projects, commissions new artistic productions, and supports interdisciplinary cultural initiatives.

Through collaborations with organizations from the independent art scene in Bulgaria and across the Balkans, her work facilitates dialogue between local and international artistic contexts.
