Liu I-Ling

Liu I-Ling (liou-ee-ling) 劉奕伶 is a contemporary dance artist from Taiwan. She was a member of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company (USA) from 2008 to 2019. Liu’s choreographic work centers on reminiscence, trauma, social observation, and the redefinition of body “technique”. In 2022, her duet work “... and, or...” received the Jury Prize at the Yokohama Dance Collection Competition and has since toured in France and the USA. She was supported by the Cloud Gate Art Makers Project in 2021 and showcased the solo work “Normal Life” at the da:ns festival in 2022. Her piece “Game On” was commissioned by and premiered at the 2023 Taoyuan Iron Rose Festival and Camping Asia at the Taipei Performing Arts Center. In 2024, Liu made her first evening-length solo “Turn Out”, which was supported by Taiwan’s National Theater and Concert Hall and nominated for the Taishin Arts Award. That same year, she was a recipient of The Place X Weiwuying Artist Residency. She is currently a part-time assistant professor at the Taipei University of the Arts.

Liu I-Ling is an Onassis AiR Fellow for 2025/26 in the framework of Onassis AiR's collaboration with NTCH.
