Elina Psykou

Elina Psykou (b. 1977, Athens) studied film directing and sociology. She wrote and directed the feature films “The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas” (Berlinale Forum 2013) and “Son of Sofia” (Tribeca 2017, Best Film Award), as well as the documentary “Stray Bodies” (CPH:DOX 2024). She is one of the seven directors of the collective film “Electra 7,” presented at the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus in July 2025 as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. She is currently developing her fourth feature film, “Patrimonial Fears and Other Illusions,” and her first mini-series, “The Three Burials of Irma.” In 2009, she founded her own production company, Jungle Films, and in 2021 completed the production of the feature film “Pack of Sheep,” directed by Dimitris Kanellopoulos. In 2016, together with filmmakers Alexis Alexiou and Yannis Veslemes and film historian Afroditi Nikolaidou, she co-founded ‘The Lost Highway of Greek Cinema,’ an initiative dedicated to highlighting the diversity and allure of Greek cinema. From February 2023 to January 2025, she taught as a visiting professor at the Directing and Acting Labs of the Film Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
