Elina Psykou

Born in Greece, in 1977, Elina Psykou studied filmmaking and sociology in Athens. She has written and directed the feature fiction films “The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas” (Berlinale Forum, 2013) and “Son of Sofia” (Tribeca, 2017; Best International Narrative Feature Award), as well as the documentary “Stray Bodies” (CPH:DOX, 2024). She participated as a director in the collective mid-length film “Electra 7,” created to mark the 70th anniversary of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. She is currently in pre-production of her fourth feature film, “Patrimonial Fears and Other Illusions,” and her first drama mini-series, “The Three Burials of Irma.” In 2009, Elina founded the film production company Jungle Films, and in 2021 she produced “Pack of Sheep,” directed by Dimitris Kanellopoulos. In 2016, together with the film directors Alexis Alexiou and Yannis Veslemes and film historian Afroditi Nikolaidou, she co-founded ‘The Lost Highway of the Greek Cinema,’ an initiative dedicated to highlighting the variety and allure of Greek cinema.
