Andrew Thomas Huang

Artist and filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang explores themes of queer futurism, Asian mythology, folklore, animism, ancestry, and body memory. A Grammy-nominated music video director, Huang’s collaborators include Björk, FKA twigs, Kelela, Eartheater, Perfume Genius, and Thom Yorke, among others. His films have been commissioned by and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Sydney Opera House, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Huang’s first large-scale sculpture premiered at the 2024 Sydney Biennale. He also directs for film and television, including an episode of Terence Nance’s “Random Acts of Flyness,” Season 2, on HBO. Inspired by his Chinese heritage, as well as queer Asian mythology and folklore, Huang is currently in late-stage development on his feature film “Tiger Girl” which has received support from Film Independent, SFFILM, Cinereach, and the Sundance Institute. He graduated from the University of Southern California, with a degree in Fine Arts and Animation.
