Orgamites return online to school classrooms | 2025-2026

The beloved educational program continues this year with free monthly online presentations, carrying the mission to promote healthy living among students and highlight the importance of organ donation.

Expanding a community that now exceeds 30,000 students and teachers across Greece, the Orgamites program returns online to primary school classrooms, aiming to help children better understand the organs of the human body and the vital significance of organ donation. This innovative educational program is implemented by the Hellenic Transplant Organization, with the support of the Onassis Foundation.

Primary school students (2nd–6th grade) can take part in the program by attending one of the monthly online presentations. The only requirement is that their school principal or class teacher submits the application of interest in a timely manner.

The first online presentation will take place on October 22 at 10:00 a.m.

As part of the program, children’s questions are transformed into a fun game of discovery and knowledge, opening the door to the fascinating world of the body’s organs, alongside the unique characters of the Orgamites program.

With imagination and creativity as their vehicle, Orgamites turn learning into an exciting journey of exploration. Through their own questions, children learn from the Orgamites what makes the heart beat strongly, how the lungs fill with air, and why the kidneys are precious guardians of our health.

In addition, topics such as organ donation and transplantation are translated into the language and special codes of communication that children understand. In this way, the program lays the foundation for a new generation, fostering a culture of solidarity centered on love for health and life.

The award-winning educational program, which originated in England and has since been adopted in Wales, Canada, and South Africa, is now being implemented in Greece for the fifth school year, as part of the Primary Care and Health Education Actions and Programs of the Ministry of Health.

Alongside participating in the online presentations, teachers and parents can download the resources, which include an educational handbook, presentations, and games, to share with children in the classroom or at home.

The program is open to all primary schools, public and private. Participation in the online presentations is free, with a first-come, first-served policy.

For participation in the scheduling for the 2025–26 school year, principals can fill out the application of interest.
