Onassis Scholars’ Association x The Tipping Point

What jobs will exist in the years to come? What skills will be needed? How can an idea be turned into reality?

For the sixth consecutive year, students have the opportunity to discuss all their concerns about the future with people who can share their knowledge, experience, and personal journey with them.

The Onassis Scholars’ Association continues to partner with the nonprofit organization The Tipping Point through the initiative “The Residents of Tomorrow’s City in Today’s Classrooms,” which this year expands to focus on the 20 Onassis Public Schools.

From September 2026 through May 2027, 60 professionals and researchers, members of the Onassis Scholars’ Association, will take on the role of mentor and meet with students online. Through live discussions and Q&As, they will share experiences from their professional and research fields, giving the students the opportunity to learn about different career paths, fields of knowledge, and options for the future.

This year’s sessions are organized around seven themes: “Creativity and Inspiration,” “Contemporary Entrepreneurship: From Idea to Action,” “Science in Action,” “Technology and AI: A Digital Future,” “The Humanities: Understanding the Human,” “From the Starting Line to the Top: The Skills Required,” and “Know Thyself: Self-Awareness and Resilience.”

In this way, students come into contact with contemporary professions and various scientific fields, meet people working in them, and find the space to think more meaningfully about their own skills, interests, and future choices.

Since the beginning of our partnership with The Tipping Point, more than 8,000 students have participated in the initiative. This year, the program focuses on the 20 Onassis Public Schools – eight of which are starting operations this school year – bringing children into direct contact with accomplished professionals and researchers. Through these meetings, children are given the opportunity to listen, ask questions, and learn about different paths for their future.

The Tipping Point (TTP) is a nonprofit organization that empowers students by helping them make informed and conscious academic and professional choices. Using technology and live group sessions, it connects classrooms from every corner of Greece with mentors from around the world, from doctors and farmers to NASA engineers. In this way, students come into contact with role models whom they would otherwise be unlikely to meet. At the same time, through hands-on activities and workshops, they are prepared for the job market of tomorrow, developing soft and GenAI skills.
