Onassis Channel | Julien Gosselin in conversation with Mario Banushi
Available from 19.12.25
In occassion of his performance titled "Le Passé", Julien Gosselin encounters Mario Banushi at the Onassis Stegi Main Stage. Two very different theater directors talk about their common ground.
The leading French director and Artistic Director of the Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe in Paris, Julien Gosselin, speaks with Mario Banushi after the final performance of Le Passé on the Main Stage of Onassis Stegi. A conversation about theatre, words and texts, Leonid Andreyev, and, of course, the past.
“We go to the theatre to feel the ghost. We go to the theatre to feel what is no longer there, what once was. What has ended. And this art as well – theatre – is very particular, because we all know it is a very ancient art, and we all know that in our society, for many people, theatre is, in a way, precisely this. And I wanted to explore this dimension […] what it means to practice an art like, in a certain way, folk dance. What it means to present a performance in which the audience can observe that there is a distance.”
