One of a Kind Scholarship

The Onassis Foundation's symbolic scholarship inspired by the career of Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

“Sport is a wonderful path to follow, but I believe education can open up even more possibilities”. With these words Giannis Antetokounmpo left his mark on the “One of a kind” scholarship with which the Onassis Foundation sent out a symbolic message of its own in 2017, showing a way ahead.

Inspired by the career of the Antetokounmpo brothers, the scholarship is aimed at those who want to move forward but find themselves held back by social and economic exclusion.

The scholarship for children who, though born in Greece, have yet to secure Greek nationality or have received it within the past five years, was ultimately awarded to two students from Sepolia: Katerina Ampntel Saient and Jacub Maciejewski, who were selected following the prescribed evaluation process. The award further strengthened the Foundation's message of releasing potential through a more open civil society: we need to try and change the way we think.
