A magical journey through the unique world of percussion music.
Under its artistic director, Dimitris Desyllas, the Typana Percussion Ensemble has introduced Greek audiences to many important works written for this unique family of instruments including Steve Reich’s emblematic drumming, Iannis Xenakis’ Pleiades, the Ballet Μécanique by George Antheil, all of John Cage’s constructions, and George Crumb’s Music for a Summer Evening.
The ensemble returns with a tribute to Japanese writing for percussion, presenting four great 20th-century Japanese composers: Toru Tekemitsu, Minorou Miki, Maki Ishii and Yoshihisa Taira.
