If imagination has colors, then colors have their own music. Dimitris Papadimitriou is inspired by the works of seven great painters and dresses music in the colors born by the sound.

If imagination has colors, then colors have their own music. They climb on the pentagram, meet the notes and make their own melodies. It is from colors and paintings that the composer, Dimitris Papadimitriou draws his own inspiration and creates the “Symphonic Visual Soundtracks”, a symphonic work to be presented in world premiere in the Onassis Stegi, on 6 and 7 March 2018.

Not for the first time, Dimitris Papadimitriou browses through different art periods to compose a musical work. But this time he delves deeper into the common course of the arts. He develops paintings as if they were films, focusing on their hidden dimension, that of Time, and he dresses the music with the colors born by the sound. But above all, the ingenious glance of the painter, different but eventually converging with the music, gives birth to the musical composition.

The composer was inspired by works of the painters Georgios Iakovidis (“Children’s Concert”), Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Edward Hopper, Arnold Böcklin (“Isle of the Dead”), Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (“Circus”) and Ivan Aivazovsky.

With the “Symphonic Visual Soundtracks”, the continuous interplay of the arts contributes anew to the creation of the personal musical material of the composer, revealing his affinity to the visual arts and film.
