Introduction
In its 13th edition, Borderline Festival is unfolding at Onassis Stegi and across different spots in Athens; a three-day event on the future of contemporary music, with the participation of young Greek and emerging international artists who transcend boundaries.
13 years of the Borderline Festival
Borderline Festival has mobilized the elements of fantasy, magic, and surprise for more than a decade through a series of DJ sets and live performances. Fixing its gaze far and beyond dystopian worldviews, it explores how music, like a spell, can transform everyday reality and distort the sense of time and space, bringing hidden narratives to light and offering outlandish and vivacious visions of the past, present, and future. In this direction, from April 26 to 28, Borderline Festival 2024 attends to the transformative power of magical realism, returning to the heart of Athens with a festival that aims to widen the act of listening.Borderline Festival 2024
On Friday, April 26, Borderline Festival 2024 kicks off at the Municipal Market of Kypseli, combining the intricate flow of Nigerian rapper Aunty Rayzor, the historic Detroit electro of AUX 88, a DJ set by BAMBII beyond the boundaries of genres and BPM, and fresh rap, trap, and reggaeton selections by ZonetoZone. The next day, April 27, the open-air stage of the Municipal Market of Kypseli kicks off with the eclectic selections of Agent Mo, producer of STEGI.RADIO. Then, deconstructed club pioneer Rabit meets Sangre Nueva—the fiery B2B2B2B project of Kelman Duran, DJ Python, and Florentino—and Mexican reggaeton queen Rosa Pistola. After midnight, the lineup moves to Gagarin 205: from the punk energy of Greek band Frenzee to the wild dancefloor experimentation of Bill Kouligas and Crystalmess to the apocalyptic techno of ANFS (Hybrid Set).
On Sunday, April 28, Borderline Festival 2024 closes at the Carhartt WIP Stage at Onassis Stegi -1 with distorted electronic sounds and live sets by aya, AMKA, Lamin Fofana, Trevor Mathison, JJJJJJJerome Ellis, and Costis Kontos.
The Borderline Festival 2024 program is curated by STEGI.RADIO, the online radio of Onassis Stegi.

What are the sounds, faces, and positions that lie in-between genres, geographies, and boundaries?
“What is music if not a spell? What is the act of listening, if not a collective ritual? Music distorts time, flattening and widening it by the will of its creator. Each musician is a wizard who reminds the listener of the continuous flow and wonder of things. Hidden worlds are revealed, and the sense of past, present, and future is restored. Music re-mythologizes reality, rendering it enchanting and accentuating both its uncanny facets and the capacities that remain latent within it and await to be thrown into action. The listener listens, moves, and dances. A collective mind and body participates in this primordial ritual and, through this act, recalls what it has always known subconsciously: there are conditions and forces at work within this world that cannot be fully grasped, perhaps, but can be tinkered with and subverted.
Borderline Festival 2024 is here, carrying a vision of magical realism. It aims to penetrate the fabric of our era’s reality not through escape but through fantasy, thinking, and an understanding beyond categorization. From Athens to the Mediterranean, in a time marred by war, inequalities, extreme impoverishment, and insufferable alienation, Borderline Festival calls for a collective deep listening of the sound of ever-emerging change.”–STEGI.RADIO
