Introduction
Are you ready for a production that is an unorthodox ceremony about violence, stereotypes, memory, identity, rationality and irrationality? Efthimis Filippou writes and Dimitris Karantzas directs a production about a serial killer. Get to know him!
This is the first collaboration between author and award-winning scriptwriter Efthimis Filippou and Dimitris Karantzas, the critically acclaimed director from the younger generation of Greek directors.
The starting point of this collaboration was a discussion about Bernard-Marie Koltès shocking work “Roberto Zucco” (1990). Just like in Koltès work, Filippou’s original play, titled “Ρομπ/Rob”, also talks about a serial killer. However, the production of these two Greek creators at Onassis Stegi turns spectators into both witnesses of and accomplices in a mysterious ceremony about a dead man who was murdered. He is reborn through the narrations and testimonies of victims and his followers. He comes back to life to be glorified and eventually devoured by a society that always needs to create leaders, saints, or mere scapegoats.
Are you ready for a production that is an unorthodox rite of violence, stereotypes, memory, identity, rationality and irrationality?
