The Hellenic Project and the Onassis Stegi are staging the Greek Song Writing Competition for the fourth consecutive year.
The Hellenic Project and the Onassis Stegi are staging the Greek Song Writing Competition for the fourth consecutive year. On this occasion, their focus will be song as the integration of song and lyric writing, music and words.
The competition is open to composers, songwriters/singer-songwriters and small groups or bands, who will have to write and perform three songs with original music and lyrics or set existing poems to original music. The competition is thus as much about composers, songwriters and groups as it is about lyricists.
The three songs submitted will then be considered by the selection committee, which will choose twenty competitors to take part in the final stage. On the evening of the finals, as many as 20 young artists will thus be performing up to 20 new songs. Prizes will be awarded to the best song, while the audience will have the opportunity to vote for a separate award of their own.
