Klaus-Peter Willsch
Klaus-Peter Willsch has been a Member of the German Bundestag since 1988, Constituency RheingauTaunus-Limburg, Region of Frankfurt Rhein-Main. Since 2002 also a Member of the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag and a Member of the Executive Committee of the German SME Circle (small and medium-sized enterprises) of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group. Since 2009 he has been the Chairman of the Aviation and Space Group in the German Bundestag and since 2010 the Chairman of the German-Taiwanese Parliamentary Friendship Group of the German Bundestag and the ViceChairman of the German-Croatian Parliamentary Group of the German Bundestag. From 1978 onwards he has been engaged in local politics in Rheingau-Taunus and various political functions and mandates in CDU Hessen. Professional career From1987 until1988 Klaus-Peter Willsch served in the 5th Anti-Aircraft Regiment in Lorch am Rhein as a Reserve Captain. From 1989 until1994 he was the head of the "rentals, leasing and internal use department" at Fraport (Frankfurt airport), while from 1992 he was working as an economic consultant. From 1993 until 1998 he was the Mayor of the spa town of Schlangenbad Education From1980 until1986 Klaus-Peter Willsch studied economics and politics at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and in 1986 he received a degree in economics. Graeme Maxton is a best-selling author and Fellow of the International Centre of the Club of Rome, a network of renowned independent thinkers, dedicated to addressing the problems facing humanity. In his latest book, "The End of Progress – How modern economics has failed us", he questions conventional ideas about the long term prospects for economic growth, the sustainability of humankind’s resource use, the consequences of China’s rise and the West’s measures of progress. The book was nominated for the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award 2011 and has been translated into German, Chinese and Czech. Six weeks after its launch in German, the book entered the top-20 best sellers list. Previously a freelance contributor for "The Economist and The World in", he now writes for a range of other international publications including "The South China Morning Post" and "The Irish Times". He is a frequent guest on major news channels including CNN and the BBC World, and is a regular host on CNBC’s morning news program in Asia, “Squawk Box”. His previous books include "Driving over a Cliff", also nominated for the Financial Times Business Book of the Year Award, and "Time for a Model Change", which was Cambridge University Press’s Feature Book of the Year. Until May 2007 he was a regional director of the Economist Intelligence Unit in Asia, based in Hong Kong. He also spent many years with Booz & Co as a strategy consultant, Citigroup and American Express and was a visiting professor at Cass Business School in London between 1988 and 2002. He has a first class degree in economics and operations research and an MBA from London. He is based in Hong Kong and Vienna.
