The celebrated countertenor Max-Emanuel Cencic in a musical encounter with the Camerata, Handel and Vivaldi.
Max Emanuel Cencic is rightly considered one of the most significant countertenors currently performing on the international contemporary music scene. Graced with a voice that has been described as ‘phenomenal’ and which is equally at ease in the virtuoso castrato repertoire of the 18th century and the Romantic bel canto of the 19th, Cencic has entranced audiences and critics alike in the world’s greatest theaters and concert halls. Making his Greek premiere, the celebrated countertenor will be performing some of the most beautiful arias from Handel’s operas. Having already made two triumphant appearances with Cencic at major festivals of baroque music in France, the Camerata will be sharing the stage with him once again, performing wonderful lesser-known concertos by Vivaldi. The orchestra’s soloists will be performing these unique works on copies of 18th-century instruments, employing the tonal palette of Handel and Vivaldi’s era viewed through the prism of a contemporary aesthetic. The concert promises to be a virtuoso dialogue between the Camerata soloists and one of the finest voices of our times.
