Zoe Chatziantoniou

Zoe Chatziantoniou lives and works in Athens. A director, choreographer, and movement director, she has collaborated with numerous theater companies, directors, and cultural organizations in Greece and internationally. She has taught theater across all levels of education, as well as in drama schools and postgraduate programs at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. From 2005 to 2008, she collaborated with amorphy.org as dramaturg and choreographer on the European project I-MAP, which resulted in the multimedia performances “See You in Walhalla” and “Fwd: See you in Walhalla.” Her work has been presented at venues such as Joyce SoHo and Arts Evolving Theater in New York, the Macao Cultural Centre, and London’s Southbank Centre. Since 2010, she has directed “Wunschkonzert” by Franz Xaver Kroetz; “Scenes” by Efthimis Filippou; “The Arrival,” a multimedia adaptation of Shaun Tan’s graphic novel; “The Blind or The Sound of Little Things in a Big, Dark Landscape” by Maurice Maeterlinck; “First Ladies by Werner Schwab”; “Hedda Gabler” by Henrik Ibsen; as well as the operas “Frossini” by Paolo (Pavlos) Carrer; “The Fugitives of the Chessboard” by Giorgos Kouroupos; and “Europeras 1 & 2” by John Cage. Her own dramaturgical works include “Amalia Melancholia: Queen of the Palm Trees”; “Requiem for Fanny Goldman,” based on the unfinished novel by Ingeborg Bachmann; “Skirt Day,” an adaptation of Jean-Paul Lilienfeld’s film of the same name; and “Dramodé,” a large-scale hybrid multimedia performance.
