Yannis Karpouzis

Specializing in multidisciplinary approaches to filmmaking, Yannis Karpouzis works in Athens as a director and producer. His debut feature documentary Poems on the Tape-recorder, won the Newcomer Filmmaker Award at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. Since 2026, he is an alumnus of Sarajevo Talents, Berlinale Talents, Torino Film Lab and Reykjavik Talents. His short films have been presented in important venues such as Sarajevo, Reykjavik IFF (Golden Egg Award), Vienna shorts, Cottbus, Raindance, Videoex, and PerSo (La rivista FilmTv award), Art Geneve and have received numerous awards in Drama ISFF and Athens IFF. He writes poetry and scripts. His work often explores themes of political identity, time travel, and melancholy.
