Ventus Ensemble

Ventus Quintet was formed in the summer of 2005, initially as a woodwind quintet. Their need, however, to expand their repertoire, created the Ventus Ensemble in the spring of 2012, adding a brass quintet, piano, percussion and electronic means.

The ensemble has performed in Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu and in festivals such as THE.S.O. Underground, the Corfu Festival of Arts, the Athens and Epidaurus Festival and in collaboration with the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University and the Mantzaros Philharmonic, took part in the organization and artistic direction of the 12th and 13th International Summer Music Academy, an annual event held in Corfu since 2003.

The ensemble has performed all over Greece, often in collaboration with major institutions such as the Athens and Epidaurus Festival and Music Studies departments of universities, while it has also held a masterclass course for 2 years.

The repertoire of the ensemble features major works for various wind ensemble settings and new works from contemporary composers, such as Alexandros Livitsanos and Kornilios Selamsis.

In May of 2016, Ventus Ensemble had its debut recording with the work “Circular Argument” by Alexandros Livitsanos, released by Decca Classics.
