Vasilis Bisbikis

Vasilis Bisbikis is an actor and director. As an actor, since he made his debut on stage, in 2008, he has played main roles in many theatrical performances of works by Euripides, Aeschylus, Tennessee Williams, Federico García Lorca, August Strindberg, Samuel Beckett, Ödön von Horváth, Jean Giraudoux, Terence McNally and others at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, the National Theater of Greece, the State Theater of Northern Greece, as well as at various other stages, having collaborated with some of the most notable directors.

Since 2013 he is the co-owner, together with the actress Faye Tzima, of their own theater, the “Cartel” Artspace. In “Cartel,” he has directed plays by Strindberg, Slawomir Mrozek, Mark Ravenhill, John Steinbeck and others. The performance “Of Mice and Men” which he directed in the seasons 2018-19 and 2019-20 was honored with the 1st award for best performance and the 1st award for best direction at the 2019 Athinorama magazine Theater Awards as voted by the audience, as well as with the 1st award for performance, the 1st award for direction and the award for the best performance (voted by the cultural websites) at the 2019 All4fun e-zine Theater Awards as voted by the audience.

For the performance “The Father,” a work by August Strindberg, which Vasilis Bisbikis directed at the Apothiki Theater during the season 2019-20, he was honored with the 3rd award for direction (the same performance also won the 2nd award for the best performance, the 1st award for best actor and the 3rd award for best actress) at the 2020 Athinorama magazine Theater Awards as voted by the audience.

He has acted in the feature films “The City of Children” by Yorgos Gkikapeppas and “Ballad for a Pierced Heart” by Yannis Economides, as well as in many short films. Finally, he has appeared in several television series.
