Vasiliki Mavridi

Vasiliki Mavridi is a dance researcher, social anthropologist, dancer, performer, and filmmaker. Founder of the Kélenya collective and co-manager of the SAYON Mali Cultural Centre, she is active in the field of cultural exchange and politically conscious artistic practice. For the past eight years, she has conducted translocal, participatory, and ethnographic research in Mali, France, and Athens, focusing on the dances of the Manden cultural and linguistic group. Her research is primarily informed by postcolonial theory, with interests that include diasporic artistic strategies, music and dance as acts of resistance, and the connection between art and the social and political dimensions of identity and migration.
