Marianna Dalamaga

Marianna Dalamaga is a biopathologist and epidemiologist, Professor of Biological Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry at the Medical School of the University of Athens. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, the National School of Public Health (ECDC) with a postgraduate degree in Public Health, while she completed her doctoral dissertation at the Medical School of the University of Athens and the Hellenic Pasteur Institute. With scholarships from the Onassis Foundation and the Harvard Foundation, she graduated from the Harvard School of Public Health with a master's degree in Epidemiology. She completed field service as a rural doctor at the Health Center of Metsovo in the barren mountain community of Milea, where she was declared Honorary Citizen for her contribution to the local community. She specialized in Biopathology at NIMTS (417 Army Equity Fund Hospital) and Evangelismos hospitals. She received a specialization scholarship in Clinical Chemistry from the European Board of Medical Biopathology. She worked as a biopathologist at the Iaso General Hospital and as National Health Service Registrar, and later University Doctor, at the Attikon General Hospital.

She has been honored with 39 Greek and international awards, among them the First Section Science Award from the Academy of Athens, the Choremeio Award, the Empeirikio Foundation award, while she received the Fulbright Research Award for her tenure as a Visiting Scholar/Professor at the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital (USA). She is the editor-in-chief of the journal "Metabolism Open" (Elsevier Editions), Section Editor of "Current Obesity Reports" and "Current Nutrition Reports" (Springer Editions) journals and Vice President of the Hellenic Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HSBMB). She is an evaluator in international research projects, participating as a national representative in the EU COST program. She has 170 publications in reputable international journals (> 5,450 citations, h-index: 38), 95 publications in special issues of international journals, 450 announcements in Greek and international conferences, 25 monographs, chapters in collective volumes or educational books, while she has been an invited speaker to over 100 lectures at Greek and international conferences. She is fluent in French and English. She is married and the mother of 2 children.
