Maria Antelman
Maria Antelman (born Athens, Greece) is a visual artist based in New York. Working mainly with 35mm film photography, she holds an MFA in New Genres from Columbia University.
In December 2020, her work will be presented at Bemis Center in Omaha, NE. Other recent solo shows include “Mechanisms of Affection” at the VAC, University of Texas in Austin (2019) and “Disassembler” at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn (2018).
She has been awarded production grants from the Onassis USA, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, and J.F. Costopoulos Foundation. Her work has been featured and reviewed in Hyperallergic.com, “Brooklyn Rail,” “Art in America,” “zingmagazine,” ArtCritical.com, “Art Papers,” “Flash Art,” and Artforum.com.
