Katerina Andreou was born in Athens and is based in France. A graduate of the Athens Law School and the Athens National School of Dance, she completed the ESSAIS program at the CNDC in Angers and holds a Master’s degree in choreographic research from Paris 8 University. As a performer, she has collaborated with DD Dorvillier, Anne Lise Le Gac, Bryan Campbell, Dinis Machado, Emmanuelle Huynh, Ana Rita Teodoro.
In her own work, she develops a distinct physical practice for each project and seeks states of presence that emerge through a constant negotiation between contrasting or even contradictory tasks, fictions, and universes, often questioning notions of authority and censorship. She also creates the sound environment for her performances, which serves as her main dramaturgical tool.
Andreou received the Jardin d'Europe Prize at the ImPulsTanz Festival in 2016 for her solo “A kind of fierce”. She went on to create the solo “BSTRD” (2018), the duo “Zeppelin Bend” (2021) with Natali Mandila, the performance “Rave to Lament” (2021), the solo “Mourn Baby Mourn” (2022), and most recently “Bless This Mess” (2024). In 2025, she created “How Romantic” for the Norwegian national company Carte Blanche and premiered “We Need Silence” for the Lyon Opera Ballet. She is an associate artist at the CCN of Caen (2022–2025) and collaborates with the Master’s Program EXERCE at the CCN in Montpellier.
Katerina Andreou is an Onassis AiR Fellow for 2025-26 in the framework of Onassis AiR's collaboration with NTCH.
