Ioanna Zouli

Ioanna Zouli is a researcher and curator with an expansive interest in visual and networked cultures.

Her PhD was a collaborative research between Tate Modern and London South Bank University; an embedded ethnography at Tate exploring the contemporary art museum’s understanding(s) of digital and network culture through the case study of the 'BMW Tate Live: Performance Room' programme. Her PhD research was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), London South Bank University, the Greek State Schοlarships Foundation (IKY) as well as the A.G. Leventis Foundation.

Ioanna also holds a BA (Hons) in Media and Culture from the National and Kapodistrian University of Αthens and an MA in Digital Culture and Technology from the Department of Digital Humanities, King’s College London. She has worked for cultural organizations and academic institutions in London, including The Photographers’ Gallery, the Royal National Theatre, London South Bank University and the Royal College of Art. In Greece she has collaborated with the Centre of New Media and Feminist Public Practices in the University of Thessaly, the Οnassis Stegi, the Αthens Biennale as well as with the Connectiva curatorial collective.

In 2020-2021 she was a curatorial fellow of the 3rd SNF Artworks programme.

Ioanna is the editor of unthinking.photography and a research associate at the Centre for the Study of the Networked Image. She currently teaches at the Theater Studies department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Αthens and she is Head of Research & Development at the Ethnofest–Αthens Ethnographic Film Festival.

In spring 2021, as writer-in-residence at Οnassis AiR, she was the editor of the book 'Confluences', which is part of the four-volume publication “The School of Infinite Rehearsals: Movements I-IV”.

Ioanna Zouli is a participant of The School of Infinite Rehearsals of Οnassis AiR 2020-21 and of the Tailor-made Fellowships program 2022-23.
